Why is regular Plumbing Maintenance so important?

Guaranteed Workmanship on all Plumbing Maintenance
Both residential and commercial plumbing systems are expensive to repair. For this reason, we always emphasize prevention is better than cure.
Regular plumbing maintenance has a number of advantages. It is often essential for businesses to continue to operate without disruption.
The likelihood of emergency call-outs is significantly reduced with a scheduled maintenance programme. This allows for problems to be detected before they get expensive to fix.

When do you check your water meter?
Periodically it is worth checking your water meter, especially if you have a bill that is higher than usual.
If you see the black dial spinning, when all the taps are turned off, this indicates a potential water leak

Water leaks can be from many sources
- Leaking/running toilet cistern
- Dripping hot or cold taps
- Burst water pipe, either in the wall or under-ground
- Faulty irrigation system
- Faulty appliances including hot water systems, evaporative coolers and hot water solar panels
All of leaks listed above can have a significant impact on your water bill, not to mention even small water leaks can result in the loss of thousands of litres of precious water.
Old galvanised iron pipes, especially those that are underground can weep water through the pipe, as over time the structure of the pipe becomes porous.

Know where your water meter is !

If you find yourself with a major internal water leak, your first action should be to turn off your water main which is normally located at your meter, and turn off electrical power to prevent potential electrocution.
Be extremely careful not to get burnt, as your water temperature could be close to 70 degrees. Some older properties do not have tempering valves fitted unlike new properties.
Tempering valves regulate water temperature. They can be retrospectively fitted, which is a very good idea if you have young children.
Allfix Plumbing and Gas have access to a wide range of stylish taps, especially quality kitchen sink mixer taps with great warranties.
We can also fit isolating taps under the sink. These can be fitted to the hot and cold water connection points under the bench for ongoing, easy maintenance
As with all our work, all taps are professionally installed and fully guaranteed workmanship.

Why is FNQ Weather is harsh on our plumbing?

While FNQ and the Tablelands is a beautiful place to live, the extremes of two climates, wet and dry, can be a challenge for your plumbing system.
During the dry season it is vital that you schedule regular plumbing maintenance to ensure small issues do not become expensive problems to repair. Gutters and roofs can suffer from our harsh environment, so it is vital that you check that gutters and down pipes are clear. All leaf debris, should be regularly cleaned to prevent them blocking and to minimise the risk of rusting inside the gutter.
Schedule a Plumbing Audit
We strongly suggest an annual plumbing audit of your home, investment property or commercial outlet. Over the years, we have conducted numerous plumbing audits for Property Managers and this has proven to be an invaluable investment. In the long term, prevention is better than cure and saves significantly on unexpected bills.
Regular Scheduled Plumbing Maintenance can prevent unexpected bills
Most plumbing systems are durable, but when the heavy rains associated with the wet season arrive the ground easily becomes saturated. As mud is heavy, it can increase the exterior pressure to your piping. Consequently, pipes can move and fracture.
Burst pipes and blocked pipes are common plumbing jobs that we frequently attend during the wet season. Similarly, it is important to remember that heavy rain can help tree roots to grow and expand. As a result, these roots can infiltrate the drains and cause blockage.
Finally, remember we know from experience that there is never a good time for a plumbing issue. That is why we are available 24 hours 7 Days and there is…..
